Board Chairman: Robert J. Nicholson

Robert Nicholson started a real estate investment company
that owns and manages apartments in his hometown. In
2000, he co-founded, Better Living Now, Inc., which provides
residential support services for adults who are mentally
handicapped or developmentally disabled. Robert was
inspired to create SMILE after spending time in the homes of
his friends who are single mothers. He noticed the number of
minor home repairs that had been neglected due to a lack of
skill or financial resources. What concerned Robert was that if
these needs went unmet the minor issues would become
more serious and ultimately more costly. He is currently a
student at The Ohio State University.
Executive Director
Mary Mills
Mary Mills stepped out on a wing and a prayer, moving from
Kansas to Columbus, OH to co-found SMILE and bring it to
life. A graduate of Harvard University, Ms. Mills also holds
an MBA and Master's in Organizational Administration,
specializing in Non-Profit Administration. She is currently a
Doctoral Candidate in Counseling Psychology, and will
utilize her skills to start a support group for single parents
through SMILE. A strong supporter of SMILE and firmly
believes in its mission and vision she is serving as the
initial Executive Director..
